When I was 11, I was coming from an errand one evening when this heavy rain started. Before I could find a nearby shed or a house to hide, I had been drenched in the heavy rain. I got to a nearby house where some other people who were already soaked in the water were hiding. When I considered the distance from the place I wanted to hide to my house, it was just like five minutes away. I was already soaked, so why wait again?
I continued walking in the rain feeling sorry myself. I looked back after like a minute of trekking and I saw the people hiding in the house following me. They caught up with me and one of them said, “I didn’t want to be the only one walking in the rain but when we saw you, we were encouraged to also walk home in the rain “. I laughed with my gnashing teeth because of the cold. We all played away in the rain without feeling the shame of our muddy cloths and cold heads. It was fun because we were many.
What are the lessons here:
- A lot of persons are afraid of the same thing you are afraid of. They are all just waiting for one person to take a bold step and face the fear and they will all follow. Be that person that will take the bold step.
- There is no need waiting under a shed with your heavy coat when you are just five minutes away from your proper shelter where you will keep warm and change your clothing. Likewise in life, don’t give up after you have experienced so much setbacks, you may just be 5minutes away from your break even.
- When we go through things in life, it becomes easy when we know that we are not alone. Be there for someone today.
