HEKIMA – Procrastination

In the month of October 2011, I was given an opportunity and a special preference to be part of a particular forum that I believed would be good for my future career plans. The normal price to join this forum was $250 but I was given a special preference to join for free as a student but on one condition.

The condition was to write a 2000 words essay and answer five questions sent to me in writing. I was also given 20 days deadline to turn the deliverables in. I was so excited and happy as the days started counting. I kept pushing the day to sit down and write these assignments forward.

Unfortunately for me, the day I eventually decided to write, this ‘terrorist’ malaria came from nowhere and I was down for 7days in a row till the deadline passed.

I lost the opportunity because of procrastination.

I have applied to be part of this same forum every year since 2013 and have been denied even with my readiness to pay. I forgot to tell you that just few days ago, the membership due changed to $1000 as against the $250 back in 2011 when I was given the free opportunity.

The snake has bitten already; my charm has become useless. I can only pray for a good day to come to get accepted and the grace to pay such a huge amount.

What are the lessons here?

1. Some opportunities in life only come but once, be sensitive not to waste them.
2. Do not fight a gun battle with a catapult, bullets are bastards
3. You don’t have control of tomorrow, use your today wisely

To your success
