This structure, popularly called “Broking House” or “Glass House” or “Femi Johnson” is a 12 floor-building. This edifice, was built by the popular insurance and risk-management mogul – Late Femi Johnson.

Originally, Femi Johnson had been born and raised in Lagos. He attended CMS Grammar School, Reagan Memorial Baptist School and The Baptist Academy. Privately, he read books on Insurance and then went on later to qualify as an insurance broker. So how did a Lagos boy end up building a magnificent building of 12 floors in Ibadan?

After he qualified as an insurance broker, the late Femi Johnson joined the Law Union and Rock in Lagos. He practiced there for a while and then he was transferred to Ibadan to helped the firm set up a thriving branch in Ibadan. He did a terrific job at Law Union & Rock and he received accolades for them. In 1969, Femi Johnson decided that his time at the firm was over and so he left and set up his own insurance firm known to be Femi Johnson & co.

Information is not available right now about when the construction began; what we know for sure is that the Femi Johnson & co building was completed in 1982. The building is mostly built of glass and in the sun, the bouncing of sun rays off the panes of glass provides an amazing view that will overwhelm you. It is such a beautiful sight to behold. The Insurance company of Femi Johnson & Co occupy the 9th floor of the Glass House.

After the Cocoa House, this building is the 2nd tallest building in Ibadan.
