“I had to fix my shoes quickly so I entered this shoemaker’s shop.
The man in charge was out, he left his kids in charge of the shop. Very confidently, the older lady, Amina, asked me want I wanted. Even though I had wanted to go back home when I didn’t meet their father, the confidence with which she spoke made me stay.
I showed her the shoe and we negotiated.
I sat down and watched her repair my shoe. As in, she was highly professional. I even “carry my big mouth” to suggest a method for her, she just smiled and told me why she it wouldn’t work that way. In minutes, my shoe was ready, neatly done.
Amina is my “King girl”, to think a father could leave his young girls in the shop without fear that they will mess things up is amazing. You need to see how courteous they talked to customers and how passionate they were with their work.
I actually need to go see their father and learn a few things from him.
We need to raise kids especially the girl child who would not just go to school but have the capacity to do little things with their hands. We should stop thinking they are too young to learn.
